Register at Chain-O-Lakes Sporting Goods on Center St
Prizes in child and adult categories.

Largest fish, any species.

Through Sunday 12 noon.

 

6:00 to 9:00 PM            Banks Township Historical Society Museum Open House

Historical Society Museum on Center Street
View pictures and memoribilia from days gone by at the Museum.
  Calendars & photos are offered for sale.  Sponsored by the Banks Township Historical Society.

 

6:00 PM       ice cream social

Banks Township Hall on Center Street
Enjoy ice cream with all the toppings for just $2.50 at this fundraiser

benefiting Ellsworth Community Schools, hosted by the Ellsworth PTO, sponsored by Charlevoix State Bank.

 

6:00 PM       PURDiest PIG CONTEST

Banks Township Hall on Center Street
Children are invited to dress up for the contest.  Pig snouts are available for contestants at the Ellsworth Branch of the Charlevoix State Bank.  Entrants will have pictures taken at 6 PM on Friday evening. Voting will take place at the Elementary School from 12 Noon to 2:30 PM on Saturday.  Entrants will receive their photo and pig snout.  Prizes will be given to the winners.  Sponsored by East Jordan Rite Aid

 

7:00 PM     Family movie night

Banks Township Hall on Center Street
View the family movie “Babe”.  Movie shown upstairs at the historic Banks Township Hall in Ellsworth.  A fun time for the entire family following the Ice Cream Social.

Approx. 90 Minutes, rated G. Fun for the whole family plus, free popcorn.

SATURDAY June 21, 2008

 

8:00 AM     5K FUN RUN

Elementary School Parking Lot
Registration begins at 8AM. Race time 9AM.

$15 entry fee. Sponsored by the Ellsworth High School Track & Cross Country Team. Contact Coach Kirk Ikens for information and pre-registration 231-675-7946.

Proceeds benefit the Ellsworth High School. Track Team. T-Shirts for all entrants.  Hosted by the Ellsworth High School Track Program.

 

9:00 AM to 11 AM     Pancake breakfast

Banks Township Hall on Center Street
Fill yourself up post run or pre parade with pancakes, eggs, and sausage! Proceeds benefit the Belltower Reformed Church Youth Mission Trip. Hosted by the Belltower Reformed Church Youth Group

 

10:00 AM   HISTORICAL TROLLEY TOUR

Leaving Elementary Parking Lot
The Banks Township Historical Society is hosting a repeat of last year’s exciting new event – A trolley tour focusing on the area history.  Over 30 points of interest will be described on this 30 minute tour of the Ellsworth Village & vicinity. Hop aboard the Mackinac Trolley and hear the past come to life.  Trolley leaves at 10 AM, 11:45 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:15 PM.

Immediately following the parade. Featuring games of skill, prizes, face painting, mini tractor pull, and Twister Joe entertaining with his balloon tying expertise!

Concession stand open offering hot dogs, snacks, and  beverages for sale at the blue shed.

12:00 PM   ROAST PORK  DINNER

Elementary Cafeteria
Delicious roast pork, sandwich bun, potato salad, baked beans, applesauce, beverage and homemade desserts.
  A limited amount of Kielbasa & Kraut is available.  Adults: $7, Sr Citizens and Kids $6.

 

12:00 PM   LIVE BAND

Elementary School under the Tent
Music by a local Brass Quintet until 2:00 pm.

12:00 PM    The Great Lakes timber show

South lawn of the High School, Park & Main Streets
From Escanaba, MI, the Great Lakes Timber show has performed at state and county fairs, theme parks, sports shows and festivals across the country. Two half-hour shows

will be presented on Saturday featuring chainsaw carving, axe throwing, modified chain sawing, log rolling in a 4,000 gallon pool and loads of good clean family humor.

Lawn seating. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Entry Fee $5 per person, family fee $12 for up to two adults & kids under 18 living in the household.

Sponsored by the Pig Roast Committee, Banks Township, Charlevoix State Bank, Drenth Brothers and East Jordan Iron Works.

 

2:00 PM     Horse Pull

Grandstand, Main Street
Featuring teams from around the state.

Over $1000 in prize money awarded.

Entry Fee $3 per person.

Sponsored by the Ellsworth Farmer’s Exchange, Drenth Plumbing & Heating, Inc. and Village of Ellsworth.

 

2:00 PM     3 POINT SHOOT OUT Basketball Toss

Lions Club Court on Forest Hill Drive
Registration @ 2PM. Tournament begins at 2:30PM

Prizes awarded in Girls and Boys divisions, beginning Jr. High and up overall.

 

SUNDAY June 22, 2008

2:30 PM    Community HYMN SING/Worship Service
Elementary School

Special Music, Worship Service, and Hymn Sing.

Message by Pastor David Heiser, Youth Pastor from Grace Community Church in Central Lake. Refreshments served following the service.
